Marriage Licence

You must present your AB marriage licence before the ceremony can be performed. You cannot be married without it. Check your marriage licence for mistakes before leaving the Registry. The officiant can't correct it. Two adults (over 18) who understand English are needed to witness and sign the licence.  If anyone is drunk or on drugs, the wedding can't happen.

Punctuality

BE ON TIME.  NO LATE CEREMONIES:  I perform several weddings daily that are all time-sensitive.  If your culture is known to be late, your wedding must start on time so I am on time for the next wedding.  You and your guests must arrive 20 minutes EARLY to start the ceremony at the agreed contractual time.  If it starts 20 minutes after the contractual time, I may have to leave to drive to and perform the next wedding.  A $75 late fee will be charged for every 15 minutes of delay.

Outdoor Ceremonies

Provide a map for outdoor locations, including parking. Have a backup plan in case of bad weather.

Sound System and Microphones (50 or more guests)

It’s your responsibility to provide working sound equipment. Rent or hire a DJ to provide a sound system, a lavaliere (small wearable microphone for the officiant) and a microphone for your vows.  This must be arranged ahead of time.

Out-of-Town Weddings and If the Officiant Becomes Unavailable
Bring a copy of the ceremony script and your marriage licence for weddings outside Calgary.  If an emergency (hospitalization, or a car incident), a guest reads the script, and the officiant would handle the legal paperwork afterward. If known ahead of time, the officiant will try to find a replacement at no extra cost. You will get a full refund, including the deposit if the officiant can't attend.

Changes to Agreement and Cancellations

If you need to change the wedding date, time, or location, then notification must be done in writing and the officiant must approve the changes.  If you cancel more than 60 days before the wedding, you'll get a refund, except for the $150 non-refundable retainer.  You must pay the full fee if you cancel less than 60 days before the wedding.  If you don’t inform the officiant in writing, you pay the full fee, including travel costs if applicable.

Postponements
Postponing the wedding requires the officiant’s approval and depends on their availability on a future date. Fees may increase if the wedding is moved to the following year.

Rituals and Specialized Ceremonies
You provide all ritual equipment and set it up before the ceremony. (e.g., sand and vessels, hand-fasting cords, etc.).

Privacy
Sharon Barwick Weddings Inc. will not share your personal information with anyone.

Photos and Testimonials
The officiant may use photos or stories from your wedding for promotion unless you ask otherwise in writing. Testimonials on Google and Wedding Wire are appreciated.

Payment and Retainer: 

Payment can be made directly on the website by credit card, debit card, or AMEX or payment by cash.  The remaining balance is paid 14 days before the wedding.  If the wedding is 14 days or less, payment in cash or payment by e-transfer is required to info@sharonbarwickweddings.com in full.  This amount is non-refundable.

This agreement is between Sharon Barwick Weddings Inc. (the “Officiant”) and the Clients. It covers the wedding officiant services (the “Services”) detailed in this agreement.
